The Dream On massage integrates reflexology with a Swedish and head massage to aid a trouble-free night's sleep.

As a terrible sleeper, I'm always on the lookout for anything that might help me get a few extra winks, so Spa & Massage's Dream On treatment sounded perfect. Designed to tackle the symptoms of insomnia, stress and anxiety, the massage uses lavender oil (known for its relaxing properties) and a combination of Swedish and reflexology techniques to set you on your way to a good night's sleep.

The therapist started by massaging my legs, which I usually find a bit intense, but in this case was relatively unintrusive. I was surprised when I then felt her kneel onto the backs of my thighs, but that actually seemed to help straighten out my tensed muscles, and after a while, feeling that pressure was quite pleasant. Pointing out ways I might improve my posture, sleep and metabolism (fewer pillows, eating slower), she firmly massaged my back, working out the knots and rotating and stretching my arms. The only part I wasn't so keen on was the sudden back-cracking, which left me with a few painful twinges the following day.

A face, neck and shoulder massage was then followed by a relaxing reflexology foot rub. I can't say I slept any better that night, but I'd be willing to give it another try.

The Dream On massage is available at Spa & Massage branches across London. £60 for 60 minutes. www.spaandmassage.co.uk
