With summer in full swing, why not abandon heavy foundation in favour of a tinted moisturiser?Friday, July 19, 2013

With summer in full swing, why not abandon heavy foundation in favour of a tinted moisturiser?

I gave up on foundation a long time ago. With freckly skin, one smooth layer of makeup isn't an option, so I've always resorted to just using concealer where needed. I've had fleeting relationships with tinted moisturisers in the past, but never found a product I was willing to commit to. However, I think I finally may have found The One.

Dermalogica's Sheer Tint comes out of the tube looking alarmingly like foundation, but on application it soaks right in, taking the edge off red patches and even reducing dark circles. On a good day (when I'd had lots of sleep) I didn't need to use any concealer under my eyes, but even on a ‘not so good' day I found I was applying much less than usual.

The product promises its iron oxides, hydrolysed pearl amino acids, hyaluronic acid and walnut seed extract will “improve skin texture” and “reduce the appearance of fine dehydration lines”. While I don't think I've ever suffered from the latter, my skin was noticeably smoother and stayed hydrated even after a long day in an air-conditioned office. And the light texture and SPF20 mean it's great for weekends in the sun too.
