Splashed with vivid street art, Benjamin Messina walks through the lesser-known neighbourhoods of Rome

Beyond the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, striking street art adorns the walls of the Italian capital.

"Most of the pieces are made in suburbs of Rome which you're normally not entering in your usual Rome trip. To raise interest in these less known neighbourhoods, the city invited local and international street art artists to make them look more friendly and interesting."

Location: Tor Pignatarra, Tor Sapienza, Ostiense, San Basilio, Garbatella, Quadraro, Tor Marancia, Pigneto, San Lorenzo.

Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2
