Affectionately known as the Venice of the Orient, Lijiang is a UNESCO World Heritage gem in the Yunnan Province with winding canals, bridges and charming cobblestone streets. Basking in the shadow of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the Banyan Tree Lijiang luxury resort is a go-to destination for wellness adventurers.

An array of indulgent treatments are on offer in the top-class spa — the signature Balinese massage features Earth oil to stimulate circulation and improve energy flow. Infusions of local pearl barley, red rice, ginseng and green tea are used in therapies that pamper and nourish.

The newly launched Yunnan restaurant focuses on the region’s cuisine to ensure an authentic guest experience. The health-conscious will be glad of dishes which take advantage of the organic vegetable garden, while aspiring chefs can try their hand in on-site cooking classes.
