This elegant, five-star refuge, perched on a pristine mountain plateau near Seefeld, belongs to the Leading Hotels of the World group. Sitting at a lofty 4,270ft above sea level, the hotel impresses with 282 spacious and luxuriously appointed rooms (each between 485 and 1,292sq ft) decked out with traditional Alpine decor, as well as classically designed suites. Each room and suite offers unparalleled views of the Tirolean Alps from large windows and sweeping balconies.

At the Interalpen-Spa, guests can indulge in world-class pampering and relaxation treatments in 1.3 acres of facilities. Here, muscle-melting massages are followed by leisurely lengths in the 160ft indoor pool or with sublime mountain views in the heated outdoor pool. Alternatively, guests can enjoy a reviving stint in either the Tirolean Sauna Village or the new Textile Sauna World.

Gourmets are spoilt for choice with the culinary experiences on offer: bread from the hotel’s own bakery and fresh, regional products are always on the menu at the lavish breakfast buffet, whilst epicureans can look forward to an exclusive, six-course a la carte dinner menu, served in a choice of dining rooms. Café Wien sweetens the afternoon with Viennese coffee and delicious homemade pastries, while traditional tea is celebrated in the plush Salon Bellevue. After dinner, Interalpen guests can savour a fine cigar in the Smoker’s Lounge — a salon with the look and feel of a traditional English club.

The relaxed mountain hideaway cultivates an atmosphere of wellbeing and the cosy ambience, which guests first encounter in the lobby, extends to the lounge area, restaurants and into the rooms and suites.
