Ringed by the Indian Ocean and swathes of icing-sugar sand, Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa offers an immersive wellness experience in a setting of understated natural beauty. An intimate affair, just 50 villas are spread across the island, either tucked away amid the jungly interior or perched on stilts high above the pristine coral reef. Just steps from the shore, the secluded Vidhun Spa is home to five private treatment villas with an outdoor bath, including couples’ cabanas, an 80ft-long infinity pool and whirlpool bath, plus a shady garden for post-massage herbal teas and sorbets.

The treatment menu gives a nod to Maldivian traditions and native remedies, shot through with a modern edge — think age-old herbal, botanical and marine extracts to add a dash of local colour to expert, cutting-edge techniques. Standouts include the Hoonu Evvaru ritual, combining a coconut-based exfoliation, facial and bespoke massage using rose and sandalwood oil, and the FINIspice poultice, drawing on the islands’ heritage of spices to help detox and purify, followed by a cinnamon and nutmeg oil massage. The Sehathu massage follows the balancing effects of hot, cold and dry elements taken from traditional Dhivehibey healing techniques, offering a deeply relaxing experience for two.

Elsewhere, an al fresco yoga pavilion hosts one-on-one or group sessions, while a fitness studio allows round-the-clock workouts, and outdoor pools offer swimming with sea views. But a stay at Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa isn’t just about treatments and fitness: embrace the island’s culture with fishing, snorkelling or diving excursions on the marine-rich house reef with the resort’s five-star PADI Dive and Activity Centre. Local island visits, dolphin-spotting, sunset cruises and a unique trip to cross the equator also make for everlasting memories.

Back at the resort, foodies will relish cooking classes and chef’s table events, plus the chance to sample local delicacies at The Dining Room. For a more relaxed, toes-in-the-sand vibe, there’s the Island Grill. After dinner, linger over cocktails at Dhoni, a chilled-out lounge with a roof made from an upturned dhoni (traditional fishing boat).
