Located in the heart of fashionable Milan, Worldhotel Cristoforo Colombo is the place to see and be seen. Blending classic architecture with a slice of modernity, the hotel is a great base for exploring the couture capital of the world. Guests only have to step outside to discover buzzy Corso Buenos Aires, the longest street in Italy dedicated to designer retailing.

The hotel is just three metro stops — or a 15-minute stroll — from Gothic masterpiece, Milan Cathedral. From here, guests can continue on to the Grand Opera House, medieval Sforza Castle, the landscaped gardens of Parco Sempione and scenic canals.

Ideal for business or leisure travellers, the 138 guest rooms of the Hotel Cristoforo Colombo have all recently been renovated; decked out with gleaming parquet floors and all the mod cons, including a smart TV, plus guests get two free hours in the spa each day if they buy a €10 spa kit, which includes flip flops and a towel. Here, under the lilac glow of mood lighting, guests can take a dip in the chromotherapy pool or turn up the heat in the Turkish bath, sauna, hammam and whirlpool bath. On the treatment menu is a mix of massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, and other beauty therapies. Guests who upgrade to a Superior or Executive room gain a free spa kit and unlimited access to the wellness area, including a 30-minute massage and a body scrub in the hammam. Face treatments work to prevent ageing and restore skin vitality, while body treatments improve circulation, metabolism and cellulite. An array of massages incorporates essential oils, bamboo and mud wraps to help guests relax and recharge.

Wellbeing extends beyond the spa to the menu: health-conscious travellers can start the day with a fresh fruit salad — that’s if they can resist the aroma of freshly baked croissants and homemade cakes. Later in the day, nutritious, organic dishes — including vegan options — are on the lunch and dinner menu at Ristorante L’Uovo di Colombo.

For a break from the bustle of the city, the lobby bar serves up everything from a full-bodied espresso to cocktails and after-dinner drinks — ideal for business or pleasure.
