African Horizons offers extraordinary safaris in Southern Africa, with a portfolio that includes fantastic horse-riding trips and safaris in South Africa and Botswana

Horizon Horseback Safaris, South Africa was established in 1993 and is based in the malaria-free Waterberg Biosphere Reserve in northern South Africa. An unspoilt part of the country, the topography is varied, covering bushveld savannah, rocky outcrops and majestic mountains. Over the years, Horizon Horseback has developed a collection of horse-riding safaris offering close encounters with animals, as well as the opportunity to enjoy rewarding riding experiences, such as polocrosse, cattle mustering and swimming with horses

Limpopo Horse Safaris Botswana operates riding safaris in the vast Mashatu Game Reserve in the Tuli Block area of Botswana. This is an area of great diversity, magnificent vistas, ancient civilisations and dramatic rock formations bordered by the great Limpopo River. Aptly named the ‘Land of the Giants’ for its baobab-studded plains and herds of elephant, the region remains largely untouched and is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards, African wild dogs, zebras, wildebeest and giraffes, as well as over 350 species of bird

Guests can choose from three safaris: The Horizon Lodge is the ideal base for those who prefer flexible, tailor-made days and a variety of riding options. It’s perfect for groups with mixed riding abilities and is also the luxury choice for those who want to combine their riding trip with stunning accommodation and spacious manicured gardens. The Tuli Safari in Botswana is a mobile safari designed for riders who are experienced, used to long hours in the saddle and able to jump over small obstacles. The African Explorer offers a luxurious safari, combining four nights in South Africa followed by three nights in Botswana. Africa is a remarkable place to explore — and on horseback it’s a truly magical experience. There’s simply no better way of taking in the African bush
