Amid Namibia’s untamed beauty, travellers can find respite in the luxurious comforts and excellent service at Journeys Namibia’s collection of lodges. Journeys Namibia operates lodges that are perfectly positioned to create an unforgettable journey around the country, visiting stunning locations and favourite tourism hot spots. With properties located around the country, amid all kinds of wildlife and wilderness, Journeys Namibia truly offers something for every kind of traveller.

Auas Safari Lodge

Arriving into Namibia, visitors will be introduced to a view of the mighty Auas Mountains, perched on the outskirts of the capital city, Windhoek. Situated less than an hour away from Windhoek International Airport, Auas Safari Lodge lies in an unspoilt wilderness far from the fast-paced city life.

The lodge offers full board and a variety of activities, including game drives, guided hiking trails and birdwatching. More adventurous guests can set off to enjoy the nearby mountain bike trails — a perfect activity for all the family.

Hobatere Lodge

From Auas, travellers can head to the north of Namibia, to the western border of the famous Etosha National Park, and discover the welcoming Hobatere Lodge. Situated within 21,765 acres of wilderness, this is a real haven for nature-lovers.

A photographer’s dream, the concession is home to a wide range of wildlife, including lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.  Sightings of these amazing animals are practically guaranteed, whether guests choose to spend their days heading out on a game drive, lounging by the pool or relaxing on the verandah.

More wildlife can be discovered come nightfall: the lodge offers night game drives to introduce guests to elusive nocturnal animals, including bat-eared foxes, small spotted genets and honey badgers. Visitors are sure to be delighted by the wildlife scenes here, whether it’s elephants enjoying a mud bath or lions hunting at the water hole.

Grootberg Lodge

From Hobatere Lodge, travellers head west into the heart of Damaraland, where Grootberg Lodge awaits. Built on the edge of the Etendeka plateau, it offers breathtaking views over the Klip River Valley.

Located in the ≠Khoadi-//Hôas Conservancy, the lodge is a true Namibian trailblazer: it’s the first middle-market establishment in the country that’s 100% owned by a conservancy, and it employs over 95% of its staff from the local community.

Hoada Campsites

For those after a more natural outdoor experience, the Hoada Campsites, 15 miles east of Grootberg Lodge, offers luxury camping. The abundance and diversity of wild species that can be found in the ≠Khoadi-//Hôas Conservancy is significantly different from the way things were at the turn of the century. Thanks to the determined efforts and cooperation of forward-thinking conservationists, the Namibian government, the private sector and the once-marginalised community that live here, game numbers have increased significantly, making it a true global success story. This includes endangered species such as black rhino, desert-adapted lion and elephant.

Guests can see for themselves the fruits of this conservation success on an elephant- or a rhino-tracking expedition. Alternatively, they can head off to explore the network of mountain bike trails in the surrounding areas of the Hoada Campsites.

Fish River Lodge

Venturing south, guests are guaranteed a warm welcome at the Fish River Lodge, the only establishment set directly on the edge of the Fish River Canyon, offering breathtaking views of the canyon from sunrise to sunset. Guests can take a drive on the rim of the canyon to enjoy spectacular views of the valley below.

A choice of hiking trails meander down into the heart of the canyon, enabling visitors to view the stunning scenery up close.

Also offered are exclusive hiking trips, ranging from two to five days, with travellers bedding down in fully equipped campsites each night. Authentic Namibian hospitality can be enjoyed while soaking up the splendour of the starry night sky in the company of a guide.

Fish River Lodge also offers drives down into the canyon, where guests can cool down in the rock pools, as well as guided cycling trips on the plateau on the rim of the canyon.

Whether guests are the adrenalin-seeking outdoors types or travellers in search of tranquillity, Journeys Namibia promises quintessential experiences in this awe-inspiring African country.
