COMO Cocoa Island is a private island in the Maldives, located among South Malé’s sandy atolls. It’s a place where pearl-white beaches and turquoise waters shine under a balmy sun. The water is so clear, visitors can watch the colourful fish swim along the ocean bed.

COMO Cocoa Island’s overwater villas enhance this barefoot luxury, each reached by long wooden walkways. They sit off-shore on the southern side of Cocoa Island, overhanging the lagoon. The style of the villas blends naturally with the island spirit — clean-lined, airy interiors are completed with high-raftered ceilings and glossy teak flooring. Inside and outside merge, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows opening up to a private deck, allowing guests to slip straight into the water.

COMO Cocoa Island’s main restaurant, Ufaa, serves Mediterranean and Indian cuisine with an emphasis on local produce and freshly caught seafood. As with all COMO hotels and resorts, the emphasis at COMO Cocoa Island is on wellness. The tandoor in the kitchen allows for fat-free grilling of meats and fish. Guests can indulge in COMO Shambhala Cuisine — nutritional, delicious meals designed to maximise energy and wellbeing, using largely organic foods rich in living enzymes, vitamins and sea minerals. For a meal with a spectacular view, the laidback Faru Bar is one of the best places to watch the sunset.

COMO Shambhala Retreat — a substantial wellness centre caters to guests seeking greater health through yoga or restorative treatments. The open-air pavilion, where yoga classes are held, is located on the sunrise side of the island. There are also four treatment rooms, a steam room and a large hydrotherapy pool that guests can use for free. The Asian-based therapies range from specific body treatments and facials to massages. Experienced practitioners who customise according to individual needs deliver each treatment.

Meanwhile, the Maldives’ warm waters promise some of the world’s best diving and snorkelling, led by COMO Cocoa Island’s expert team of professional divers and teachers.
