Classic safari specialist Machaba Safaris’ three luxury safari camps showcase the best the Okavango Delta has to offerWednesday, 12 June 2019

Classic safari specialist Machaba Safaris’ three luxury safari camps showcase the best the Okavango Delta has to offer. Machaba Camp and Little Machaba Camp are situated in the Khwai Concession on the Khwai River, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The company also operates Gomoti Plains Camp, located further south, on the edges of the Gomoti floodplain.

A safari taking in both these areas guarantees the complete Okavango Delta experience. Access to Machaba is by air (a 30-minute flight from Maun and 55 minutes from Kasane) and land (a 30-minute drive from the airstrip).

Machaba Camp is built in classic 1950s style, and features luxury tents, en suite bathrooms and living areas, plus outdoor showers. The tents are reached by pathways that meander between large riverine trees, and the camp offers two luxury family tents and eight luxury twin tents.

The various leisure facilities include a swimming pool and library, and there’s a spa offering massages and facials. Children of all ages are welcome at Machaba Camp.

Little Machaba Camp lies on the same island as Machaba Camp, but is run separately. A more intimate site, the camp hosts a maximum of eight guests and comprises only four spacious tents: two luxury family tents and two twin tents. The walkways offer views over the wide plains that are home to herds of elephant. ‘Bushfare’ cuisine (professionally prepared local dishes) is served al fresco. Little Machaba is ideal for a more private safari experience.

Located in an exclusive concession in the southeastern Okavango Delta, Gomoti Plains Camp comprises two luxury family tents and eight luxury twin tents, built in the signature Machaba style, inspired by the delta’s water and land.

Children are welcome and the site is also wheelchair-friendly. Morning and evening game drives to spot the prolific wildlife, including
herds of elephants and buffalo, are a must.

Guests can also embark on activities including
a walking safari or a tranquil mekoro (traditional canoe) safari exploring the shallower waters of
the Okavango.
