Naboisho is a 50,000-acre private conservancy of unspoiled wilderness in the greater Maasai Mara in Kenya. This wildlife haven is a ground-breaking conservation project between 500 local Maasai families, Basecamp Explorer and other conservation champions. The project benefits both wildlife and the local community, offering visitors amazing wildlife experiences as it boasts a high concentration of wildlife in pristine savannah that’s home to cheetah, leopard and lions in impressive numbers.

Part of the charm is its exclusivity. Tourist numbers are restricted, reducing the impact on the environment and wildlife. When heading out on guided game drives or safari walks with local Maasai guides, visitors can expect exceptional wildlife encounters without being surrounded by other vehicles.

Established in 2010, Naboisho conservancy is an innovative and effective partnership that benefits about 10,000 local Maasai people. Naboisho significantly contributes to the protection of wildlife in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem, which holds about 40% of Africa’s remaining larger mammals. With more than 70 identified lions in Naboisho, this safe haven for wildlife boasts one of the highest lion densities in the world. In recognition of these efforts in conservation, Naboisho was awarded the best managed wildlife conservancy in Africa at the Africa Responsible Tourism Awards 2016 and serves as a model for conservation in the region.

Transtrek Safaris, an experienced tour operator in partnership with Basecamp Explorer, takes guests on intimate, private safari tours with expert, friendly guides, staying at wonderful camps in beautiful locations. Basecamp’s Wilderness Camp brings guests closer to nature and is the perfect place to head out on a bush walk. Eagle View, comprising just nine spacious and luxurious tented suites laid out in a modern safari style, offers amazing views over Naboisho from a ridge-top location. Guests can listen to the sounds of nature, enjoy guided walking safaris and game drives and marvel at the abundance of wildlife in the Naboisho Conservancy.
