Alyn Wallace
The Milky Way is visible from the Three Cliffs Bay in the Gower Peninsula.
The Snowdon Horseshoe, on the shores of Llyn Llydaw, is located inside Snowdonia National Park.
Alyn Wallace: "The jewel encrusted winter night sky above Garreg-Ddu reservoir in the Elan Valley, Mid-Wales. The Milky Way arches across the sky and the triangular diffuse glow of the zodiacal light extends from the horizon. Other notable subjects include Sirius, Orion, Pleiades the open star cluster, and Andromeda the spiral galaxy."
The aurora borealis, or northern lights, seen from the Brecon Beacons Dark Sky Reserve (51° N) during a particularly strong geomagnetic storm in March 2016.
Alyn Wallace: "The Great Rift of the Milky Way extends above South Stack lighthouse on Anglesey. The yellow glow on the horizon is the light pollution from Dublin illuminating the underneath of some distant high cloud."
Alyn Wallace: "The pointed peak of Tryfan in the Snowdonia Dark Sky Reserve under the grace of the Milky Way."
Alyn Wallace: "This starfish was basking in the effervescent glow of bioluminescent plankton at Dunraven Bay, on the South Wales coast."
Alyn Wallace: "Bioluminescent plankton illuminates in a stunning neon blue when agitated as a self-defence mechanism. Mars can also be seen shining through the wispy cloud above the Gower coastline."
Rays of moonlight spectrally illuminate the waterfall of Sgwd Ddwli in the Brecon Beacons. Alyn Wallace: "A lot of planning was required for this shot. It had to be taken around winter so that there was no leaves on the trees to allow the moonlight to pass through and there also had to be some days of rainfall prior to shooting to allow for some mist to catch the light. On top of that clear skies were needed around a time when the moon was close to full phase."
Alyn Wallace: "A photographer on Cribyn in the Brecon Beacons Dark Sky Reserve eclipsing the rising full moon."
