Melanie MacDonald, 22, just finished her studies in adult nursing at the the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway. Positions in the hospital are hard to come by but she says she will stay on the Isle of Lewis until something comes up. She plays the accordion in the different ceilidhs, or folkdancing events, occurring around her village. She loves the fact that people from the community meet there, dance, sing, read poems, and dine together.
Holly, 18, and Callum, 24, are photographed at Callum's parents' house on the Isle of Lewis in January 2016. Holly has since left for Glasgow to study to become a mental health nurse. She would eventually like to live on Lewis even if she knows it will be complicated, says photographer Laetitia Vancon.
