Considered a pioneer in modern dock technology, the historic centre and docklands of Liverpool represent one of the world’s major trading centres in the 18th and 19th centuries, and played a significant role in facilitating the trans-Atlantic slave trade. The site was listed “in danger” in 2012 due to a proposed redevelopment scheme that would significantly alter the skyline and isolate the dock areas visually.
