In Rome, traffic is captured moving around the Colosseum using a long exposure. A tripod and an exposure of several seconds to several minutes are needed to capture the traffic moving, but the structure static. A small opening (aperture) is also needed to ensure too much light doesn't enter the camera and over-expose the scene. For this reason most long exposure photography is in low-light.
