A conservancy ranger-in-training learns the art of camouflage at Borana Ranch, northern Kenya. The warriors are being trained in camouflage and ambush techniques to use in combating poachers.
When recruits arrive, they have no knowledge of anti-poaching techniques. While training, they use sticks instead of guns until they're qualified to carry firearms.
Ranger recruits are selected from applicants across all 27 of the community conservancies in the Northern Rangeland Trust, and will form part of a multi-ethnic anti-poaching team.
Once trained, they will receive weapons, and will be awarded the status of Kenya Police Reservists.
