The funerary monument of Mumtaz Mahal stands alongside her husband’s. Both are built of white marble and inlaid with precious stones. The monarchs’ remains are interred in a separate chamber below.

Around the lily, intertwining vines and flowers were created using parchinkari, a technique in which a wall is inlaid with tiny pieces of precious stones.
