Jetwing Safari Camp

A sanctuary that boasts a wealth of wildlife, Yala National Park features expansive grassy plains, rocky outcrops, lakes and lagoons, and scrub forest. Roaming this vast and varied landscape are herds of deer, a bewildering array of birdlife, and the Asian elephant, to name just a few. Yala's claim to fame, however, lies in its relatively dense concentration of the island's top predator — the majestic Sri Lankan leopard.

While there are many ways to see the geography and wildlife of Yala National Park, there's nowhere that offers quite the same immersive experience as Jetwing Safari Camp.

Made up of 10 elegantly appointed, butler-serviced tents tucked away in an unspoilt, coastal scrubland — just a stone's throw from the national park — Jetwing Safari Camp is where safari, camping and luxury come together. The camp welcomes guests into the sights and sounds of Sri Lanka's wilderness.

The camp offers personalised game drives to Yala's five blocks, as well as Bundala National Park and Lunugamvehera National Park. Guests are accompanied by an experienced ranger on all safaris who is trained to track and spot even the most elusive of creatures. For the avian enthusiast, birdwatching walks accompanied by your own butler can also be organised.

After the game drive, freshen up and wander down for a drink and a chat with the hotel's environmentalist Chamara Amarasinghe. A man of many interests, Chamara's extensive knowledge ranges from wild orchids to bats to the anthropogenic history of Sri Lanka.

Dinner is a mix of local and western cuisine, cooked in front of you under the velveteen blanket of Yala's night sky. For wildlife enthusiasts and travellers seeking an immersive experience, Jetwing Safari Camp has a tent with your name on it.
