White sandy beaches lapped by topaz waters, lush hills and majestic granite boulders — these images of a tropical paradise become reality in the Seychelles. Silhouette is one of the 115 islands of the archipelago and only a 30-minute boat ride away from Mahé, the largest of the islands. It’s a unique treasure and a mecca for nature lovers and travellers seeking peace and quiet. Silhouette is the third-largest island in the Seychelles and yet only 7% of it has been developed — the coastline where the Hilton Labriz Resort & Spa is located.

The award-winning hotel has 111 villas spread across 1.55 miles in garden or beach settings, some with plunge or private infinity pools. Eight restaurants and bars serve Mediterranean, Japanese and other international cuisine as well as cocktails in either sophisticated settings or on the beach. Local dishes and cooking classes can be enjoyed in the recently restored plantation house, which is also a museum for the history and culture of the region.

Apart from Hilton’s facilities, the island is a protected nature reserve that can be explored on different nature trails. A scenic path leads to the other side of the island where an abandoned fishing village is now home to a group of giant tortoises. There are no cars on the island, which makes a discovery tour on foot or one of the resort’s beach cruisers even more attractive, and also makes this a safe destination for families and those who enjoy outdoor activities.

Guests can start the day with an energising morning yoga session on the beach or take up one of the many sport offers: from professional tennis training to fishing trips and boat cruises. Enjoy the sea on kayaks and stand-up paddleboards or admire the marine life on a snorkelling or diving trip with guides from the eco-concept PADI diving centre. Afterwards, the award-winning eforea Spa is the perfect place to unwind and relax tired muscles. The outdoor area, with infinity pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room, is a tranquil haven that overlooks the ocean. The therapists work miracles on tired bodies and minds — the Ocean Release Massage eases stress and tension while an anti-ageing facial hydrates the skin after a day in the sun.
