Book in for the campfire cookery course (9-16 April) at Penheins in Monmouthshire and learn to make halloumi kebabs and Welsh cawl when you stay at one of six Persian-inspired glamping tents on a family-run farm. Dig out the paint palette for Craft Printing for Children (11 April) and the Easter Special Crafty Printing (20 April). A three-night stay over Easter is available from £495 based on a family of four or five staying from 19 April, on an accommodation-only basis. Courses from £25 per person.

Let the little ones follow in fairies’ foosteps on the Studfold Adventure Trail in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire. There’s a series of new miniature fairy houses along the one-mile route, but alternatively, there’s go-karting, den-building and ride-on mini tractors. The Studfold Great Easter Egg Hunt runs from 13-28 April, too, and caravans or camping pitches are from £20 a night or one of the four glamping pods for £50 a night. Admission to the trail is £6.50 per adult; £5.50 per child (free for under-3s).

Or why not join in an afternoon of chocolatey fun and games at the Chocolate Party hosted by Whitemead Forest Dean? After an afternoon’s egg hunt, retreat to one of the woodland retreat’s range of accommodation options, including glamping pods and cabins. From £515 for a three-night break (12-15 April) in a premier apartment for up to six.

A sweet escape
Is there a better place in Britain for an egg hunt than Cadbury World? Call in en route to Birmingham as you set off from Tardebigge along the Worcester & Birmingham Canal. Drifters’ four-berth ‘Rowan 4’ is available for the Easter weekend for £690, or for a week (19-26 April) for £980.

IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT CHOCOLATE…

Here are our top three picks for a different Easter holiday

1 Geek out
The Edinburgh Science Festival is set to present a colossal 270 family and adult events at 31 venues between 6 and 21 April. Taking inspiration from the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon, there’ll be a variety of science shows, events and workshops for your amateur astronauts.

2 Switch off
Evian Resort on Lake Geneva is offering a Yoga & Play Parenting programme this Easter to help you unplug from the stresses of daily life. It’s the perfect excuse to disconnect and hone up on your (and your children’s) emotional health, physical wellbeing and concentration skills.

3 Tuck in
The JW Marriott Venice’s Family by JW programme offers a Venetian twist on Easter activities this year, all dashed with a little luxury — think pasta-making classes or art lessons, in collaboration with the city’s Guggenheim museum.
