Where to stay: four luxury hotels in Limassol, Cyprus

The Cypriot city on the island’s south coast is shaping up to be one of the most luxurious getaways in the Med.

From seawater to family-friendly, there are no fewer than four pools at the Harrods Interiors-designed Parklane.

Parklane
Harrods Interiors designed this resort and its posh pedigree nets you suitably plush digs: beds cocooned by curved wooden headboards, cream carpets matching the embossed walls, and understated mid-century furniture. Book a room with a sea view and you’ll have the Med shimmering through the floor-to-ceiling windows, too.

Limassol is seeing an upmarket resurgence, and Parklane, which opened in March last year, is at the forefront. Cyprus hasn’t seen anything quite like this before: a 274-room resort just outside Limassol itself, which manages to offer all you could dream of in your typical Cypriot resort, then bumps it up a tad. It’s part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, which means standards are sumptuously high. The premises are filled with modern art, from the lobby with its local limestone sculptures and 1,050-piece chandelier to the representations of Aphrodite in the ocean-themed spa.

The beach is relatively small for the resort size but then again, who needs the beach when you have four pools to choose from? Each serves a different clientele: one is seawater, one adults-only, one indoor and one for all. The same goes for the rooms — there are sections of adults-only and family-sized suites. From £144.

Amara
Restaurants from Nobu Matsuhisa, Giorgio Locatelli and Giorgos Papaioannou are just the start at the ridiculously luxurious Amara, which opened in June last year. As for the rooms, they’re the biggest entry-level digs in Limassol, all overlook the Med and are split into adults-only and family wings. From £215.

Four Seasons Hotel
It’s not part of the Four Seasons chain, but it could be: plush, modern rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows (pick one pointing towards the sea), five restaurants including the seafood-heavy Vivaldi, plus a swish Shiseido Spa. Going strong since 1993, it sits on the beach east of Limassol. From £184.

The Library
This adults-only hotel has a suitably cosy library and media room, while rooms are named after writers and poets. Don’t be fooled by its wellness ‘resort’ label — it has a mere 11 rooms (decor is smart rustic, with luxurious marble bathrooms) and is in Kalavasos, a hilly medieval village just outside Limassol. From £69.
