Get tips from Aldo Zilli, one of the masters of Italian cuisine, as we join him at home on Tuesday 24 November from 19:00 to 20:00 for a cooking demonstration showcasing dishes from around Italy. Learn about the very best produce and dishes — including where to try them — in a fascinating panel discussion, and discover the perfect wine pairings with our sommelier. You’ll even have the chance to ask Aldo questions during the audience Q&A.

We want you to join us in celebrating Italian food at this interactive live event. We’ll be talking about why food is so central to socialising and family life in Italy, as well as discussing the amazing regional specialities around the country: the polenta dishes of Lombardy; the bread of Tuscany; the cured meats found in Emilia-Romagna; the famous pizza and luscious tomatoes of Campania; the abundant lemons, oranges, almonds and olives cultivated in the volcanic soil of Sicily; and the artichokes and porchetta of Lazio. A journey through Italy reveals an ever-changing roster of fantastic ingredients and the finest regional cooking — and we’ll be taking our own tour from Aldo’s kitchen.

Book your free ticket now to join us on Tuesday 24 November from 19:00 to 20:00.

Meet the panel: Aldo Zilli, Joe Hurd and Joe Fattorini.

Aldo Zilli

Aldo Zilli is an award-winning celebrity chef and restaurateur who specialises in Italian, vegetarian and seafood cuisine. One of nine children, he was born in the seaside town of Alba Adriatica in the central region of Abruzzo and learnt Italian home cooking first from his mother, then catering college. He was the founder and chef-patron at some of London’s most exciting and innovative restaurants: Signor Zilli, Zilli Green, Zilli Cafe and Zilli Bar. His Italian seafood restaurant Zilli Fish was a Soho institution and had been open for over 15 years in March 2012 when Aldo decided to hang up his chef's whites and embark on other ventures. He’s currently head consultant of the San Carlo Restaurant Group.

Aldo has written 10 books, including two autobiographies, Being Zilli and My Italian Country Childhood, and a number of cookery books. His cooking skills and exuberant personality mean that Aldo appears regularly on television and radio, both as presenter and chef.

Joe Hurd

As a proud Yorkshireman with Italian heritage, Joe Hurd’s interests in cooking were inspired by these influences from day one. Joe’s cooking style is unfussy, accessible and always about flavour, and he’s passionate about sharing his knowledge of traditional Italian recipes, ingredients and cooking techniques with home cooks.
As a chef, Joe has worked alongside Jamie Oliver, Gennaro Contaldo and the late, great Antonio Carluccio. Joe is also a regular guest presenter on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen and appears frequently on stage at festivals and events across the UK.

Joe Fattorini

For the past 20 years, Joe Fattorini has sold wine to restaurants, hotels, bars and celebrity weddings as one of the UK's leading wine merchants. He's a wine expert on The Wine Show, which is broadcast in 110 countries, including the UK (ITV, Channel 5 and Prime Video), the US (Hulu), Australia (SBS), Canada (Gusto) and countries across Europe (via Sky) and Asia (Nat Geo People). This year, during lockdown, he hosted The Wine Show @ Home from his attic.

Tickets for the event are free and can be booked here.
