Rare Greenland Shark Filmed Beneath the Canadian Arctic

A rare and long-lived species of shark was filmed in the frigid, deep-sea waters off the coast of Nunavut, Canada. Greenland sharks are known to frequent the dark waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic oceans.

While not much is known about the mysterious species, it's believed they can live for upwards of 272 years. They're similar in size to great whites, and are part of the "sleeper shark" family due to their slow-moving nature. Research of the species is still ongoing, and footage like this can help scientists understand more about the elusive sharks.
