These Robots Use Living Muscle Tissue to Mimic Human Fingers

Scientists in Tokyo combined plastic and metal with living muscle tissue to create these functional biohybrid robotic hands. They grew the muscles from scratch by attaching precursor muscle cells to the robotic skeletons.

The robots can mimic the actions of human fingers. They hope to one day combine multiple muscles into one device to reproduce entire hands or arms.
