Watch: Horses Found in Pompeii May Have Been Harnessed to Flee Eruption

The remains of three horses were discovered in a stable in the ruins of Pompeii. At least two were harnessed, perhaps in preparation to escape the lethal volcanic eruption that destroyed the ancient Roman town in A.D. 79.

Archaeologists created a complete cast of one of the horses by injecting plaster into the void in the hardened ash layer where the animal had collapsed.
