Watch a Playful Young Elephant Charge at Cars

Monday, 19 March

A juvenile male elephant faces down one vehicle, and then charges after another, in footage recorded on March 4 in South Africa's Kruger National Park. But as Joyce Poole, NG Explorer and co-director of the research and advocacy group ElephantVoices, explains, it's not really a show of aggression.

The calf, which Poole estimates to be about four years old, displays several body language cues that indicate playfulness, such as flopping its trunk around and waggling its head.
