Angel Eyes extend lashes for a semi-permanent, pain-free, natural look.
I'm afraid I'm one of those women who never leaves the house without a thick brush of mascara on my lashes. And although I've experimented with false versions from the high street, I've not particularly warmed to their drag queen-style effect. So after hearing Angel Eyes had arrived at London's Bijoux Medi-Spa in Belgravia, I thought it high time I'd give professional lashes a go, designed to extend each hair but to natural effect.
The one downside though was that no mascara should be worn before the extensions are fitted and I spent the preceding hours feeling rather naked.
Lying on my back, my therapist talked me through the cycle of eyelash growth, while she gently applied each false lash to the tips of my real ones. And although I'm not a fan of people fiddling around my eyes, it was actually very gentle with little interference. The fact I had my eyes closed for the period of the treatment — around an hour — I started to doze off towards the end, surprised the application was in fact rather soothing.
Faced before the mirror, I was ecstatic about the results. They appeared incredibly natural and meant I didn't have to use mascara daily. However, although I was advised they'd last for six to eight weeks, most of the lashes had fallen off within a month. But there's no doubt they take some of the hassle out of my morning makeup routine and I wouldn't be averse to having them redone.
Angel Eyes Semi Permanent Lashes start from £70 at Bijoux Medi-Spa, 149 Ebury Street Belgravia, London SW1W 9QN
