With a reputation as a revolutionary medical spa, Lanserhof Lans reopened its doors in January following an extensive redesign by award-winning architect Christoph Ingenhoven.

The renovation includes a new five-storey building, home to a bath house and sauna area, an indoor and outdoor saltwater pool, a medical cold chamber to treat chronic ailments, and advanced medical facilities for yoga and exercise, shiatsu, various therapies and dermatology.

There are also two accommodation floors — 16 rooms and two suites — plus a new space for talks, lectures and other events. Guest rooms are simple yet refined, featuring walnut furniture, Philippe Starck-designed bathrooms, crisp white sheets and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto epic alpine views.

A holistic medical spa, the Lanserhof is a long-term practitioner of the LANS Med concept, a combination of traditional naturopathy and state-of-the-art medicine for both the mind and body.

On arrival, guests receive a plan tailored to their individual health needs, including a host of therapeutic, diagnostic and cosmetic programmes to ensure they leave glowing, revitalised and armed with a wealth of knowledge about how best to look after mind and body. As well as medical consultations, there are detoxifying massages and a host of treatments to recharge the body.
Nutrition is key to a stay at Lanserhof and guests can expect healthy, tasty food, with an emphasis on freshly prepared, organically grown fruit and vegetables and organic meat.

When it comes to time out, guests can plot a course beyond the retreat to explore the beautiful Alpine wilderness — there’s hiking, biking, jogging or swimming in summer and skiing and snow-shoeing in winter, while golf against a backdrop of the Tirolean mountains is a must.

But a stay at Lanserhof needn’t be all about health and wellbeing. Head to Innsbruck, the capital of Tirol, to discover its historical highlights — the medieval Old Town, galleries and museums. The city’s cultural calendar is buzzing with theatre shows and concerts — there is no end of great ways to spend an evening.
