Known for its dazzling blue waters and white-sand beaches, the Maldives is a tropical nation comprising more than 1,000 coral islands — an obvious choice for a luxurious escape in a tropical paradise. W Maldives is a private island resort located on Fesdu Island in the North Ari Atoll, with unrivalled luxury and stunning natural beauty including a wonderland of crystal waters, pristine sands and its own private coral reef, declared the best Maldivian house reef. Part of W Hotels Worldwide, the W Maldives resort promotes a fresh take on the luxury escape, complemented by serene palm trees and ocean views all around. The resort includes 77 private villas, all of which are architecturally stylish and extend over the gently lapping Indian Ocean. The villas include their own sundeck and plunge pool where guests can take a refreshing dip in the tempting turquoise waters below.

Bask in the sun on the beach, try out adrenalin-filled watersports, paddleboard or jump into the reef waters with snorkelling gear to explore hundreds of species of marine life and tropical fish. There’s also a diving centre where guests can take PADI diving courses.

For true pampering, the Away Spa provides a variety of treatments. The resort spa has four overwater villas, each with an outdoor area, and all the treatments are designed to gently remove the stresses and strains of modern life. Of course, the slow pace of island life contributes to an atmosphere of relaxation and indulgence.

The resort has several fine dining options, including the specialty overwater restaurant FISH, which focuses on the freshness of the local catch mixed with a Southeast Asian flair, and FIRE, which has an outdoor barbecue. Cocktails can be sipped at the pool bar WET, or at the sunset bar SIP, accompanied by chilled music and twilight views. Experience Maldivian culture at its best at KADA, the beach pop-up café. Food is served family-style, with plates placed in the center for everyone to share. For special occasions, private dining is available, either on the coral terraces around the island or at the neighbouring Gaathafushi island.
