Telunas Private Island, the latest addition to the Telunas Resorts properties, opened in 2014 and was quickly awarded the Travellers’ Choice Award by TripAdvisor for top family friendly hotels in Indonesia. With its 15 overwater Sea Villas built using ethically sourced materials, these airy rustic villas are simple in form but luxurious in execution. Guests, who reach their villa from the wooden jetty, walk in to a lounge, where tall glass windows allow natural sunlight and island breezes to filter inside. A children’s loft upstairs sleeps two or three, and downstairs a king-size bed offers views of the ocean. Each villa also has a private outdoor verandah.

Following the wooden jetty towards the open-air two-storey Grand Lodge, guests’ Western, Asian, and local Indonesian meals are prepared by the executive chef. Guests can head downstairs to the Sand Bar for a beverage or a mid-afternoon snack.

Guests looking to reach new levels of relaxation can head to the newly constructed overwater spa. Inspired by local architecture, and taking the island’s natural features into consideration, the spa features four spa pavilions for single and couple massages. Reserve treatments at sunset for a spectacular view across the island-dotted horizon.

Those travelling with kids can relax, knowing their little ones are well looked after at the Kids’ Club. Children will love the activities on offer — all carefully monitored by highly trained staff — as well as the chance to play with others their age. Other highlights include a freshwater infinity pool, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, and a daily guided social activity such as a cookery class.

Telunas Resorts is a socially responsible resort committed to having a sustainable positive impact on the environment and the local community and economy. Over the last 15 years of Telunas Resorts’ presence in the Riau Islands, the team has worked with more than 50 local villages and islands to improve education and island infrastructure, decrease pollution and reduce unemployment.

For those wanting a restful and rejuvenating retreat, Telunas Private Island is a beautiful, secluded, private island resort that inspires guests to reconnect with what’s important.
