Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort

The prestigious Anantara brand, famous for its hotels in Thailand and the Maldives, has opened this contemporary new resort, its debut in Europe. Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort is close to the town of Vilamoura, only a 10-minute drive from the bustling marina and unspoilt coastline.

At Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort, which has 280 spacious rooms including a unique Presidential Suite, guests breathe tranquillity in every corner; every detail is given over to the art of relaxing, ensuring that every moment spent at this luxurious hideaway is sublime.

Outside, the resort has four swimming pools — Cascade for adults only from June to September; the Palms outdoor pool and children’s pool are heated mid-October to April; and a heated indoor pool at the Anantara Spa is exclusively for adult suite guests. Sunbathing next to the pool is further enhanced by the breathtaking views of the coastline and when guests need refreshments, a drink or a delicious snack is never far away. Poolside Champagne cabanas and al fresco decks add a decadent touch of relaxation.

The Asian-influenced spa offers treatments focused on ancient healing traditions. The treatments are extensive and indulgent, exactly as guests would expect from this high-end luxury brand, and there are also yoga, pilates, jiu-jitsu, Zumba and Capoeira sessions as well as a high-tech gym. Golf enthusiasts are also well catered for — Victoria, an 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Arnold Palmer, is very close.

Executive Chef Bruno Viegas combines his deep love of Portugal’s culinary traditions with fresh local products, weaving his passion throughout the resort’s bars and restaurants. There are a number of delicious restaurants to choose from, including a Portuguese diner with a modern twist and resident wine guru Bruno Cunha, or divine a la carte seafood at Ria in a tranquil poolside setting. A fun way to get about in the evenings is a ride to Vilamoura by complimentary rickshaw, a nod to Anantara’s eastern roots. All room types have free access to Purobeach (poolside and beachfront) although it’s worth noting that Purobeach Poolside is only for adults.
