In this photograph, a small mangrove forest looks like an abstract print, but in reality, mangrove forests serve important protectice functions for both coastlines and small organisms during storms.
“There are around 80 species of mangrove trees and they are found along tropical coastlines in saltwater,“ writes Your Shot photographer Alessandra Meniconzi. “Mangroves provide the habitat for many species of fishes and invertebrates and there are a defence against storm, typhoon and tsunami.“
Appenzell, Switzerland. "A breathtaking mountain view of Switzerland's Alpine range."
"Every day the Nenets with their dogs drive the herd to 'filter out' the animals to be castrated," writes Your Shot photographer Alessandra Meniconzi. "The women make sure the animals do not break away. 70-100 reindeer is the basis for the survival of the Nenets people. The reindeer are used for everything: strength, leather, meat and horns."
