Camilla Ferrari
Photographer Camilla Ferrari captures her sister walking along the main street in the trendy Sanlitun neighbourhood in Beijing, China. “I remember meditating on the stillness of the lake waters of Houhai and being mesmerised and confused by the rhythm of people walking and running in the streets and subways,” says Ferrari. “I remember the sounds of a language I didn’t understand and my failed attempts to decode the gestures. That feeling is something that I yearn to deepen as soon as we [are] able to travel again.”
Milan, Italy: "As I was taking a shower, I realised something was moving to my left," says photographer Camilla Ferrari. "It was my reflection on the wet surface of the shower box. I felt less lonely."
"This image was created to resemble memories I have from when I lived with my family," says photographer Camilla Ferrari. "It's a screenshot from one of our video calls. I asked my mom to be my eyes and frame the images following my directions — it was something very new for us, this creative collaboration. Probably it’ll become a new shared memory."
“My instinctive response to this is to find beauty in what surrounds me, by rediscovering my house and its poetry through photography and video,” says Milanese photographer Camilla Ferrari, who hasn’t left home since March 9. “I believe this forced process of slowing down will soon reveal how our behaviour has affected both the Earth and other humans. I’m trying to keep my mindset as positive as possible by reading, researching, meditating, and taking pictures.”
Dressed in white, members of Civita's religious fraternity lead tourists and residents from Civita and Bagnoregio during the Good Friday Procession.
The Confraternity of Civita don their traditional white capes in preparation for the Good Friday mass and procession. As part of the annual celebration, the group will carry a statue of Christ from Civita to Bagnoregio and back.
Dressed in historically accurate costumes, volunteer reenactors chat moments before the procession begins.
Ascenzio Artemi, one of the oldest members of the Good Friday Procession Committee, readies the religious paintings that will be carried by volunteers during the Procession.
Traditionally, the Good Friday procession stops at a nursing home in Bagnoregio where elderly people kiss and pray to the statue of Christ.
For four hundred years, Civita and Bagnoregio have celebrated Good Friday with a procession featuring Civita’s Christ statue. The tradition helps Civita maintain a sense of self as its population disappears.
