Your Shot photographer Saulius Damulevicius took this self-portrait in 2016, while on the first Lithuanian ski expedition over the frozen Baltic sea. "Although I broke one of my ski bindings and even got into the freezing water while crossing the fresh icebreaker lane," he says, "we finished our expedition successfully."

Jengish Chokusu (also known as Victory peak or Peak Pobeda, 7349 m) is the highest peak of Kyrgyzstan. It is recognised as the northernmost seven-thousander and one of the most dangerous peaks for climbers at this altitude level. Since its first ascent in 1956 only about 400 climbers have reached the top and 100 died trying. On the night this picture was taken, a party of 20 climbers was fighting its way down the mountain after losing one of its members near the summit.
Your Shot photographer Saulius Damulevicius snapped this picture of Camp 2 while descending Ama Dablam, a mountain in the Himalayas. With its peak reaching 22,349 feet in elevation, Ama Dablam is the third most popular Himalayan mountain for permitted climbing expeditions.
