Can a product like this really reverse the ageing process?

Some can't go to bed without it, others put it on the moment they wake up. Serums have gained a cult status with their ability to infuse the skin with active concentrated ingredients and solve a multitude of problems. So why do we need a new one?

Apparently because Dr Levy's Intense Stem Cell Booster Serum can reduce wrinkles in 39-61 year olds by 26%, and skin density by 12%, in just eight weeks.

I admit I was still hesitant to try it. Partly because it sounds too good to be true, and partly because I've been happy with my current serum for over five years now (it doesn't irritate my skin and costs £75 — a quarter of the price of Dr Levy's).

But with science moving on, you've got to be open minded and, as Einstein once said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change”. I guess, if you can afford it…

So one morning I found myself ditching my faithful serum in favour of Dr Levy's. Lightweight in texture, it penetrated the skin quickly, I experienced no irritation or redness and, thankfully, a little went a long way.

My skin felt hydrated and smooth, but I didn't notice any drastic changes until six to eight weeks later when others began commenting on my skin. I can't say my wrinkles had improved by 25% but it's fair to say Dr Levy has a new fan.

The Swiss-Canadian aesthetic dermatologist developed the main ingredient — ArganCellActiv — following recent scientific advances in stem cell research. The anti-ageing and firming plant-derived stem cell extracts aid regeneration and, combined with hyaluronic acid, tripeptides and vitamin A, C and E, the potent serum stimulates both dermal and epidermal stem cell activators together.

So can products such as these really reverse the ageing process? Research is ongoing but studies suggest scientists are getting nearer and nearer, so I'll be keeping an eye on the launch of new super serums — and, until then, using Dr Levy's religiously twice a day. Albeit sparingly.
