Tell it like it is: Holiday vouchers

From Wowcher to Vouchercloud, the number of online voucher specialists is growing. Claire Davenport from explains what this means for holidaymakers.

What sort of vouchers and discounts are available to travellers?

Most people don't realise that it's possible to save money on every element of your trip, from your hotel room to your duty-free shopping, if you know where to look. Since January 2015, there have been more than two million interactions with travel offers on You can find discount codes to use on flights from many of the major airlines, and on ferries, coach and train services along with car hire or airport car park booking. But the most popular offers on the site are hotel bookings, along with package holidays and flight discounts.

Which companies offer these vouchers?

A huge range of travel companies offer deals through, including Hilton Hotels & Resorts, British Airways, Eurostar, Hertz and Avis. We also have exclusive offers from the likes of, STA Travel, World Duty Free and Thomas Cook, which, for example, is currently offering £100 off selected bookings of over £2,000. The total amount saved by users who redeemed a travel voucher code between January and July 2015 was £1,916,678.

When is the best time to book?

It depends on what you're looking for. For holidays, January is the month when operators are keen to secure early bookings. Luggage brands start to discount in advance of the summer season, and March and August are the months to bag a later summer break.
