Situated on the Place de la Comédie in the heart of Bordeaux’s ‘Golden Triangle’, the InterContinental Bordeaux — Le Grand Hôtel has occupied the top spot on the city’s hotel scene for more than a century. A former stately home, this historical monument first became a hotel in 1904. It’s the ideal departure point for those who wish to discover this elegant UNESCO-listed port city in France’s southwest.

The Grand Hôtel has 130 rooms, including 44 suites: 21 of these offer a spectacular view of the Grand Théâtre and the Place de la Comédie. The deliciously muted palette of the hotel owes its existence to interior designer Jacques Garcia. The elegant, baroque opulence chosen by this renowned decorator perfectly enhances the area’s neoclassic atmosphere.

Illustrious British chef Gordon Ramsay oversees the hotel’s restaurants. In Le Pressoir d’Argent, a two-Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant, his menu features the superb produce of the surrounding areas. In Le Bordeaux, Gordon Ramsay’s brasserie, British cuisine takes centre stage, with dishes including beef Wellington and fish and chips, while the menu also features gastronomic delicacies from southwest France.

Another must-see venue in the hotel is the Rooftop: this vast terrace has become one of the best-known and most frequented rooftops in Bordeaux. With a 360-degree panoramic view of the Aquitaine capital and an exclusive yet friendly atmosphere, this open-air lounge is the place to be for an afternoon drink or pre-dinner aperitif.

The upper part of the building houses an exclusive wellness area: the Spa Les Bains de Léa. Here, sensuality is the keyword, in a world evoking Roman baths, styled by the inimitable Jacques Garcia.

The Clefs d’Or concierges are on hand to throw open the doors to the city and the surrounding region. They can offer made-to-measure outings geared to the discovery of local treasures, including, of course, the world-famous wine region.

The InterContinental Bordeaux — Le Grand Hôtel has long been part of Bordeaux’s rich tapestry, and is the ideal place for a stay in style.
