If location is a hotel’s most important feature, then Villa Magna is a triumph. Situated in Salamanca, Madrid’s most elegant neighbourhood, the hotel is on the Paseo de la Castellana — a grand boulevard lined with restaurants, museums and impressive architecture, making it one of the most enviable addresses in the city.

The nine-floor hotel has 150 rooms — including 38 suites — with each room and public area of the hotel furnished by Thomas Urquijo, a master in reinterpreting spaces and combining timeless elegance with stylish simplicity. A special touch comes from the pastel-coloured capsules in the bathroom — shower scents by Skinjay, the Parisian brand that has brought a spot of luxury to showering. Guests need simply hang these little capsules on the shower nozzle and the delicious aromas are dispersed in the steam.

Guests can start the morning with a classic Spanish breakfast, which includes one of the best tortillas in the city. Meanwhile, the Lounge serves food until late at night, and the gazpacho is highly recommended.

An evening aperitif isn’t to be missed. Whether it’s a casual tête-a-tête, a drink between friends or a business meeting, the Patio Magnum offers the best Spanish and international wines, as well as an extensive menu of cocktails and spirits. But Spain is also a land of gastronomic wonders, and alongside a drink, guests can tuck into a mouth-watering range of high-quality tapas, or a selection of both Spanish and fusion dishes to nibble on over a glass of wine.

For luxurious relaxation, THE SPA is a space where facial and body treatments are tailored to the needs of each person. The best of eastern and western wellness traditions are offered to treat both the body and mind, as well as an exclusive selection of rituals with Natura Bissé products.

Thanks to the hotel’s central location, guests are just a stone’s throw from some of Madrid’s key attractions — the fresh air and gardens of the beautiful Retiro Park; the cultural heavyweights of the Prado, the Thyssen and the Reina Sofia museums; and vibrant shopping and nightlife in the nearby Chueca neighbourhood.
