Situated on the western shore of the tropical island at Wolmar — known as the sunset coast — The Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa is a stylish five-star hotel, bordered by a wonderful 1,300ft-long white sandy beach, overlooking the clear turquoise water of the beautiful lagoon. The hotel is 30 minutes from Port Luis, the capital of the island and a 45-minute transfer from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

Each room and suite offers comfort and convenience with a range of great amenities. Guests will enjoy stylish decor with island influences, private terraces or balconies and stunning ocean views.

A culinary journey awaits at the resort, which has three restaurants staffed by a creative team of experienced chefs. Try the gourmet lunch and dinner at Les Coquillages just steps from the seashore, or savour authentic Thai cuisine at the Ginger Thai restaurant. Then there's La Pomme d'Amour restaurant, which features a daily American breakfast and international buffet dinner with a Creole touch.

The luxurious spa features a hydrotherapy bath, sauna, steam room and a private cabin with whirlpool. For guests who wish to maintain a fitness regime during their stay, they can take advantage of the on-site fitness studio with regular yoga and thai chi classes to help alleviate stress. Guests can indulge in one of the revitalising spa treatments, take a few laps in the swimming pool, dip in the open-air whirlpool bath or enjoy the sound of dolphins while swimming in the sea. There's also an adults-only pool that's heated from May to September and overlooks the Indian Ocean, plus a large choice of complimentary water sports, such as snorkelling, windsurfing or pedal boating. Guests can also have a peaceful trip on a glass-bottom boat. Adventure seekers, meanwhile, can choose to surf, kayak or go deep-sea fishing.

Every evening, a unique ritual takes place at sunset — the torch lighting ceremony. As the sun's rays fade away, the enchanting music intensifies and lit torches cast the hotel in flickering light.
