Discover what makes the vineyard city of Adelaide and surrounding wine regions so special at a free live online event with Olly Smith and friends. The multi-award-winning wine expert, TV personality, author and columnist will be joined by an expert panel — including esteemed wine writer Nina Caplan, naturalist and broadcaster Nick Baker and Australian chef and restaurateur Alexis Noble — who’ll reveal their secret spots and insider tips.

Learn about the very best wines and the passionate people behind their labels, where to see native wildlife, and more on the innovative food scene that South Australia is so famous for in a fascinating panel discussion, including short films from winemakers and tasters.
Can I join in for free?
You’ll be able to taste the best of Adelaide’s wine regions along with our panel — a list of wines which are easily available to purchase along with detailed tasting notes will be sent to you before the event. The event itself is free but you can also buy a VIP ticket.

Presenter Olly Smith gave us his five personal recommendations for a perfect South Australian trip.
Head to the Clare Valley
Just 90 minutes north from the vineyard city of Adelaide is the gorgeous Clare Valley wine region, home to Leasingham, a winery established in 1893 that’s still making delicious Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon today.
Experience winemaking history
Langmeil is a stunning family winery and cellar door in the Barossa Valley that’s made a huge contribution to the remarkable history of Aussie winemaking. It’s home to what’s believed to be the world’s oldest shiraz vineyard. The three-hour Freedom Experience tour there immerses you in the fascinating heritage of this very special winemaking region.
Get inside the Cube
No trip to Adelaide would be complete without a visit to the d’Arenberg Cube on the pristine Fleurieu Peninsula. The vision of fourth generation winemaker Chester Osborn, the Cube features a wine-inhalation room, eclectic art installations, an Alternate Realities Museum, and a tasting room with views across McLaren Vale. Also make time to check out Coriole Vineyards just down the road.
Make time for cricket
I love cricket and one of the best grounds in the world is the Adelaide Oval, in the heart of the city and its parklands. Life doesn’t get much better than watching England beat Australia under Adelaide’s big sunny skies.
See the native wildlife
I’m passionate about wine but my love of wildlife comes a close second. Kangaroo Island is the best place to see native Aussie animals in the wild. Think koalas, echidnas, dolphins, long-nosed fur seals, sea lions and, of course, a lot of kangaroos. It’s a 30-minute flight from Adelaide, but my top tip is to hire a car and drive down to the ferry terminal, spending a few days in the McLaren Vale wine region as you head south.
