Tense Chase Follows as Unsuspecting Hyena Trespasses on Lion Territory

A tense scene unfolds in Kgalagadi National Park hyena wanders into a waterhole claimed by a lion pride. Lions are top predators throughout their range, but in the southern Kalahari the brown hyenas is another formidable carnivore.

In the rain-scarce Kalahari, brown hyenas sometimes meet their water needs by eating fruit. But this one is walking toward a water hole from which the pride of lionesses just returned. More than outmatched by the pride, the hyena makes a retreat.
